We employ nearly 450 staff.

More than 50% of staff work directly with offenders. This includes working in our hostel and in West Mercia's six prisons.

Other staff work in supporting roles such as training, information technology, admin and clerical, finance, human resources and management.

About us: Introduction

The Probation Service is responsible for supervising offenders in the community. This can be when an offender is sentenced to a community order by the court or when the offender leaves prison.

Regional work
West Mercia forms part of the West of Midlands region along with the Staffordshire, Warwickshire and West Midlands probation areas. The region is headed up by the Regional Offender
Manager, Steve Goode. Regional work includes the Regional Sex Offender Unit and Connect, an initiative to make short-term prisoners more employable.
